A Space Saving TV Stand In The Guest Room
/Sometimes we have to find space saving solutions for our rooms, whether we live in a small or large home. This multi-use space saving TV standfrom Holly and Martin is actually a console table, and we couldn't be more pleased with how perfect the space turned out!
This post is sponsored by Holly & Martin. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Tiny House Giant Life.
We announced last month on instagram and last week on the blog that Mitch's 95 year old Nana has come to live with us. This "guest space" has officially become her bedroom and we were happy to have been most of the way through the renovation when we found out she needed to move in ASAP.
Why A Console Table and not a TV Stand?
As you can see the table fits perfectly into this space. Anything wider would have stuck out into the room more making moving around the queen bed difficult and the room feel smaller.
Traditional TV stands are lower and deeper than this console table.
Since I already knew we would mount the TV up on the wall since this keeps the area around it feeling simple and clean lined, we needed something under the TV that was taller and narrow.
When Holly & Martin contacted me about their multi-use furniture that's perfect for small spaces I found this console table right away and knew it would fit the bill.
Typically console tables are used in entryways, foyers, and mudrooms but if you look closely you will see many designers use them as go-to pieces in the living room and bedroom as well. They are just so versatile.
The table we picked comes in black or white and we decided on black to pop against the bright white walls (a custom color Mandi from Vintage Revivals created).
Its a durable metal table with the glass shelf which we decided would hold various books for guests to grab and nose through.
In glancing at what Holly & Martin has to offer I also really liked this modern table with rich wood top. I can't seem to get enough of the white, black, and wood tones.
Space Saving as Easy as ABC
Putting this table together was such a cinch everything was so perfectly labeled.
It was like the best version of IKEA directions, simple visuals but then they went the extra mile and labeled the pieces so you matched up A-A, B-B and so forth.
We put the unit together in less than 10 minutes, and started by centering it up on the space.
As you can see the newly painted black floors took a beating during this reno, and I'm glad to announce they are holding up well!
Styling the TV Stand
We went ahead and styled the space just like we would for a guest bedroom, even though its technically Nana's personal space now.
We will most likely take these down and give Nana the console table for some of her countless knick-knack's. That way it feels like her's since we ended up getting rid of almost all of her furniture.
The beach photos are all from a trip to Maine we took two years ago and the antique artwork is from my mother's collection which I sneakily stole for the room! Some big perks of having your mom live with you.
Books to flip through, inspiring prints, a nice candle, and plants create a crisp, clean, and welcoming atmosphere that I would love to relax in.
What about you, think you could relax in a space like this?
